GRAPHIC CONTENT AHEAD: THIS YEAR’S NEW PATTERN TAKEOVER

Design*Sponge | A look at this year's graphic trend
I know that every year, design writers herald the return of Bold! Graphic! Patterns!, so much so that it now seems like a bit of a joke when such claims are made over and over again. Although 2014 seems to be yet another good year for the patternistas out there, this year’s fresh crop of graphic prints is markedly different from those of recent years. Gone, it seems, are the fuchsia chevrons and muddy ikats of yesteryear, replaced instead by designs that are no less impactful, but of a decidedly more minimal nature. Gracing not just the pages of this spring’s fashion magazines, but new interiors and design catalogues are oversized polka dots, bold grids and striking stripes—most of which are found in the oh-so-au-courant black and white palette of today. Although these loud patterns can be a bit cacophonous when paired together, as individual pieces they function as bold, beautiful statements—both on the body and in the home. Check out more of our favorite new graphic looks after the jump!

Sandwich Dad

Graphic designer and competitor for Best Dad Ever David LaFerriere has been drawing illustrations on his children’s sandwich bags since 2008. Lucky for us he photographs almost every single one, over 1,100 of which you can explore over on Flickr. (via quipsologies)

Coffee Love All Over Again

It's 8AM. My alarm rings. I lay in bed as excuses race through my clouded mind of why I won't be able to get up today. And then my senses start to kick in. The sunlight appears brighter, my ears pick up the frantic footsteps of my upstairs neighbors, and the coffee smells better then ever! Coffee, mmm. Okay, maybe I can get up.
Not only does coffee have the power to awaken the minds of countless designers, myself included, it also inspires incredible work. Dear Coffee I Love You is a blog dedicated to this very thing. With it's fantastic collection of mugs and packaging from the best resources around, it can make you fall in love with the beloved bean- and the wonderful culture it's produced, even more.

Tea Party Shower

My social calender for the year end is fast filling up... !! November and December is going to be madness. But whats worse is some of my really close friends are getting married.. which means Bridal Showers galore. I've been scouring the internet for bridal shower inspiration and came across this lovely idea- a Tea Party from the lovely blog Bridal Musings. I especially love the DIY Tea Cup Candles (I did this candle making course a couple of years ago and handed candles to all my friends for christmas gifts!) So many beautiful ideas here...

PRINTS AND PALLETES BY SCION

I don't know how/why it took so long for me to discover Scion wallpapers and fabrics... but I did. And it makes me happy. I'm digging their patterns- with everything from rustic and natural, to hip and illustrative. The bright color palettes are so refreshing! Especially that blue/orange combo. And if patterned wallpaper is a bit too overwhelming for your taste, one of their pillows could just as easily give you that pop of design you're looking for!

Paris v/s New York... Illustrated

An NYC transplant from Paris, graphic designer Vahram Muratyan, copes with culture shock by creating a lovely blog of simple graphics showing how the cities compare and contrast. Pitted against each other are Le Pain, La Peste, Le Tip and more in this friendly feud.
