I always pictured myself doing some major PR work. Strut into a large office, young atmosphere... shouting out orders. By afternoon swing some client off their feat.. by evening celebrating success with some bubbly champagne.. congratulatory messages in order ! Of course life decision led me into this other thing I am so amazing at. The family run business.. exports, bigger clients. But the things I miss is being creative - the reason why I am so close to my blog. I miss the young atmosphere - its a trading house - and does not involve many people ! I miss the after work drinks culture or an office party. i would be kicking some ass at office politics I am sure !! If I was a head honcho of some top PR Firm Id be dishing out these on every rejected idea - A STAMP OF MY DISAPPROVAL ! Very Devil Wears Prada-ish.. Yes I look upto Meryl Streeps Character ;)

Glamrs.com ... my make up 101 experts
Trousseau shopping can be stressful for a girl like me.
Especially while buying make up. With no prior experience in shopping for the
essentials, I experienced failure in my maiden visit to a multi brand make up
retail outlet. Boy oh boy.. was I in for a traumatizing afternoon or what !!
First off, the ladies behind every counter were over done to say the least,
which first put me off the whole idea of buying make up in the first place. Wasn’t
make-up supposed to make you look glamorous ? Hot ? Sultry ? Irresistible ? To
add to my agony they were pushy and trying to sell me 10 products in one go.
Each of them wanted to fix me in one of their booths for a skin analysis and
rush me into a purchase. Of course there is no good end to this story ! I took
the first exit in sight and was back home all in a matter of 30 mins.
Google being my BFF.. I hit search on make-up buying tips.
DESPERATE ! I know ! But what does one do when they come from a
non-make-up-wearing family. Google hit me back with a million make up hook up
sessions which offered some great tips.. Unfortunately the women were all white
! Whatever happened to the quintessential wheatish brown Indian beauty ? That’s
when I came across www.glamrs.com This website dishes out beauty tips made for
our type of Indian skin by the dozen. The website is easy to navigate and very
user friendly.
Pallavi Symons, their make-up specialist seems to have a go
to answer to all my problems. It basically covers Make-up basics, DifferentLooks And then an expert review.
Make up basics covers everything your mother did not tell you about beauty and grooming.
Make up basics covers everything your mother did not tell you about beauty and grooming.
The section on different looks gives a dozen ideas.. each with a link to glamrs tv – which is basically a youtube channel which is an audio visual classroom on make up 101.
And the best part is, that there are a dozen different products coming out in the market. She explains the ingredients, the USP and the application of these new products – which makes make-up buying such an easy and a happy process.
They also have a Magazine that I highly recommend each one
of you subscribe to. It has become my every Friday read .. Prepping myself for
the weekend of parties and socializing The tips they give have come in very
handy. They even tell you what do on a festive occassion or a coffee date for example – that’s how
specific yet to the point this website can get. Although what I am really
waiting for is their SHOP section – which is “Coming Soon” .. where I am really
hoping we can buy the exact same products that they show.. wouldn’t it be just
too convenient then ?
Ofcourse you see all the gorgeous beauties like Dipanita Sharma Miss Malini and VJ Romoma and their likes sitting on Pallavi Symons’
hot seat which makes you wonder if these tips will do the same magic it did for
them or not ? Or will the products work on you or not ? Well… I can only say –
watch and learn ladies… check the website now www.glamrs.com

Ellie + Seth’s X-Ray Save the Dates
Um, how cool are these save the dates from Morgan and Arley-Rose of Ladyfingers Letterpress?!?! The bride and groom – both doctors – were inspired to do something non-traditional for their wedding save the dates, so Morgan and Arley-Rose worked with them to come up with the idea of an x-ray featuring signature Ladyfingers Letterpress hand lettering screen printed in a bright teal ink. Such a fun surprise for their guests!
From Morgan and Arley-Rose: We were approached by a pair of doctors (and the bride’s lovely mother!) to create their save the dates. During a chat with the bride-to-be, she shared a story that inspired them to want something a little non-traditional: A few years ago, a lawyer friend of theirs was getting married to another lawyer. Instead of sending a traditional invitation, they subpoenaed all their guests to their wedding! As doctors, they wanted to do something as witty and a little bit different, thus the x-ray save the date was born!We were able to procure a chest x-ray from a stock photo website and hand-lettered their adorable “Looks Like a Case of True Love” type on top. We worked with our friend Jon who runs a great local silkscreen shop called Headlight Hotel to produce the films and silkscreen printing.
We also designed and ordered rubber stamps that read “Confidential” and “X-Ray Official Test Results – Do Not Bend” and hand stamped each envelope. Lastly, we letterpress printed their return address onto the backs of the string-tie envelopes.
In the end, their guests received in the mail what appeared to be some sort of confidential medical test result, when in fact it was a clever and fun way to let them know that two of their favorite doctors are tying the knot!
Thank you so much ladies!

Forcing a SMILE
Sometimes when my friends and I are feeling saucy, we'll pose for photos with fake smiles. You know, the forced half-smiles that little kids do? These photos always make us laugh. And here's maybe why...
The results of this fascinating study, to be published in the journal Psychological Science, says that if you force yourself to smile, you're lowering your heart rate and reducing stress. An upturned facial expression lowers the level of cortisol, a stress-related hormone. The smile doesn't even need to be genuine.
This is pretty wild, because traditionally, we've been made to believe that feeling good makes us smile. When in fact, smiling makes us feel good.
So let's put these findings to use, shall we? Go put on a happy face!
