Dreaming in Autumn Colours

Photographer Irene Suchocki's photography is like looking into someones wonderful daydreams. The scapes she creates with lighting and her wonderful vintage camera's gives this nostalgic and hazey feel that's absolutely mesmerizing. These are the kinds of places I imagine myself escaping to when I'm daydreaming!

Analog Double Exposure Photographs

German photographer Florian Imgrund acquired his first film camera in the summer of 2010 and has made incredibly good use of it since. All of his double exposure work is done completely in camera without the use of photoshop, and often merges human forms with the natural landscape. Unusual Long Exposure Photography

While attending the International Fireworks Show in Ottawa, Canada earlier this month photographer David Johnson had his camera in hand to document the night. When Spain’s entry into the competition begin he decided to try something a little different resulting in the photos you see here which are unlike any long exposure firework shots I’ve ever seen.

Via email David tells Colossal : The technique I used was a simple refocus during the long exposure. Each shot was about a second long, sometimes two. I’d start out of focus, and when I heard the explosion I would quickly refocus, so the little stems on these deep sea creature lookalikes would grow into a fine point. The shapes are quite bizarre, some of them I was pleasantly surprised with.

What’s interesting is that unlike usual firework photos that seem to make long trails across the sky, Johnson’s photos look like flowers with little triangular plumes coming to a point. Pretty amazing. You can see several more photos here.

Carousels In The Round

Photographer, Pep Ventosa, has this playful series, In The Round, where he walks around carousels taking multiple shots, then blending the images together in post production. The effect is beautiful, don't you think? They look like watercolor paintings.

Gifts From Wedding Photographers

Don’t ask me what I think of my engagement pictures !! It’s almost like asking Hitler about Jews during the world war. Kuki hasn’t heard the end of it… poor him. I feel almost bad to tell him off each time… so either or will happen. Either I will get over the fact that he has sleepy eyes in all our pictures… OR he will get over the fact that he is never going to hear the end of that story !! LOL
Of course, I was mighty irritated at our engagement pictures photographer.. he made up do all these couply pictures which are so ANTI- what I blog about. And then he sent over a couple of hundred pictures of which he wanted us to choose a couple to make the final cut.

And then he did. And eventually with all the colour correction etc – we have a set of beautiful pictures in one album… But he only put it in a fancy bag and delivered. I was all happy, until I came across this BOX of chocolates !!

Wedding photographers sending gifts to their clients? Granted, I'm not married yet, but I never knew this was common practice. Maybe it isn't. But photographer, Jasmine Star, who also happens to be my friend of a friend of a friend, knew of other photographers who gave their clients Dom Perignon, a framed 8x10, and cookies upon the couple's return from their honeymoon. So she started sending out boxes of personalized chocolates to her clients, packaged up sweetly with custom photo paper. What a thoughtful thing to do.

Wedding Photography !

I'm absolutely smitten with Heather and Jon's vintage style of wedding photography. In additional to digital, they somehow juggle a plethora of film cameras and homemade lenses. And get this.

I am just back from the wedding of my best friend Raghuvir to his lovely Bride Chhavi. Much to my dismay I was stuck capturing their lovely moments on my Blackberry Camera. It sucks !!! I am so inclined towards buying the I-Phone. I saw some of them at the wedding using it and it have a lovely wide lens and clicks the amazing moments. I only wish I was a much careful user and over and above it all it had some more nicer business phone like apps... : (( I am really sad using a blackberry at the moment. I am almost hating its site !!

Ancient Ruins

Wedding photographers, Erin and Ben Chrisman, got married at Hacienda Uayamon in Campeche, Mexico, surrounded by ancient ruins from the 1700's. Can you even imagine having a candlelight ceremony in a crumbling stone chapel in the Yucutan jungle? What a dream.

Exploding Flowers..!

Bryan Warakomski photographs floral explosions. Despite the violent act behind each shot, they sure look celebratory. Almost like fireworks. Now I can't decide what's more beautiful... flowers as is, or in mid-destruction. What do you think? :)
