I'm Famous and Waiting to be Rich now !!

There are 2 aspects of the human mind that I have come to know in the last 48 hrs with certain clarity. When they say – you will know when you sail in that boat – you will know. So I sailed in that boat to know them FOR SURE. So what happened in the last 48 hours ! A couple of days ago in one of my entries I told you about how I got photographed for Inc Magazine. It is out and here is the link for the same.

http://issuu.com/incindia/docs/inc_india-vol-2-issue-04-may-2011_1_

I’m featured on the 26th Page of the magazine – and 28th page of the PDF File. After the much dilly dallying over the make up and costume bit – the actual day of the shoot is nothing but a feeling of discomfort in my head. I am more of a behind the camera person off late – and all my thoughts about Oh, I would love to be centre of attention – have now a different perspective. So 2 things happened. Both Revolve around Human Emotions.

1. The Human Mind loves Flattery. And Questions who it is coming from and Why.
While most people close to be seem to be having their own shit to deal with – so there is yet to be a celebration of sorts. And I thought like in the movies I would declare a party and have 50 people flowing in with the booze and the attitude. That did not happen, is my reality. Some close one is in the hospital, so people are tending to her. Others are busy in their bullshit. A few others didn’t have time to read – even though I delivered it to their mailbox. Others that read got so caught up in work that they didn’t have time to send their much love.
And then there are the unexpected. Those that took their time off to let me know how proud they are to know a person like me, words of encouragement, some critical words to make sure I do well in the future. Some in plain awe of me, and some who half expected me to succeed- but are only surprised it was so early in life !!

2. The Human Mind shrivels up looking at no one around to share their happiness with.
I have been in a constant fight with my best friend for over last 7 months. To a point where the period of 10 days before the magazine came out we didn’t see each other, we didn’t talk to each other, but made each other’s life living hell messaging from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Much of what was exchanged was un-needed, and uncalled for... we didn’t mean half of those things we said... but we did. And that’s our reality. So when the magazine came out – the first reaction was Who the fuck to i share this happiness with ? So it didn’t matter that I have 10,000 other people who I knew would be happy for me. What mattered is that she is not around !!

Both of which is now resolved. She emailed, we met and we have hopefully conquered ! And the immediate family despite all the shit that is happening will now congregate at a celebratory dinner Friday night !!! LOVE in today’s world comes but in a delayed FASHION. Life is not BOLLYWOOD film after all. It is just the human mind that needs slight training !!!

Of course my thoughts on the magazine.
1. I love being famous
2. I love the fact that there were so many words of encouragement
3. I love the fact that I am happy I am in Inc. But I can’t wait to be on Forbes list now !
4. I love that I love being ahead in the race
5. I love that people around me cheer me up each time I tend to settle for no 2.

Do check out the link and let me know what you think !!! YIPPIEEEE !!

Cyprus Sunshine

As soon as you land, you feel the fresh mediterrean sea winds hit you to greet you at Larnaca airport. Now, right before getting onto a plane, a million people asked me – Why Cyprus ?? Where is Cyprus. Just to give you the quick co-ordinates !

Capital : Nicosia
Party Capital : Ayia Napa
Currency : Euro
International Airport : Larnaca & Paphos
Summer Months : March – Oct – tons of people !!
Winter Months : Nov – March – everything is cheap, most restaurants, bars and cafe’s are shut !
Visa : Needed – although its a part of the European Union – a simple Schengan Visa will not suffice as of 20th Nov, 2010. But things are soon going to change.

Why Cyprus - because it has some of the most beautiful and breathtaking beaches of the Mediterreian coast line. There are tons of hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts available which can be booked online. I would suggest people to self drive, its fast and economical – you can cross the country from one end to the other in a little over 2 hours – if you love speed like I do ! They follow the british style – RIGHT HAND DRIVING !

WOOOFFF !!! Getting to the actual fun bit !

We were a party of 9 people, so booking a hotel was out of question. At ¼ its price, I found an amazing 4 bedroom villa, with a swimming pool, big garden and a seafront with the most amazing view !! Although we were a little outside Ayia Napa – about a 10 mins drive – which we did not mind. We considered ourselves lucky. Our cars were parked in the exact location as explained to us – and after the first day the GPS was rendered useless. This country bowled me over with its simplicity !

We dropped out bags and after a quick oohing and aahing over the absolutely fantastic villa, we got dressed for a little night on the strip. We headed straight to Ayia Napa. The little town of Ayia Napa can be walked from one end to the other without tiring your feat. Hiring a quad bike is recommendable. The Party scene in Ayia Napa is explosive ! Go to Bedrock Inn – Flintstones style, StarSkys, Piazza, Guru Bar – one the most stylish, Abyss are some of the best Clubs to be visited. Los Bandidos is a must visit Mexican Restaurant in Cyprus – especially for vegetarians – for whom most Cypriotic Food is a no-no. This town has all international cusinies to suit every pocket.

What is the most striking is that Ayia Napa is full of Souvenir shops. But once you travel in the layers and find the cute boutiques around this little town, you will be in paradise. Beware of Designer FAKES – at 1/10 the price.

The next morning, we decided to take a dip in the crystal blue waters. At any given point in time I could find 4 different shades of blue and green in the seas. The silver sand coastline runs from one end of the country to the other. Holidaymakers can take excursions from Ayia Napa to places like Agia Thekla, 6km to the west, with a small offshore island, Makronisos Beach, a cluster of three sheltered bays, or to the historical city of Larnaca, 40km along the coast. The waters are warm from May to Mid-November. Perfect for a little tan.

For my hiker friends. You must visit Cava Greko – which is Cape Greko. It lies between the towns of Ayia Napa and Protaras, both of which are popular tourist resorts. It is frequently visited by many tourists for its natural beauty. It is a protected nature park. From the high points on the cliff that rests at the cape one can view amazing sights out to sea. There are marked points where cliff divers are find their heaven. I hiked twice, once for sunrise and the other time during sunset. Camera snapshots do not do any justice to the changing colours in the skyline. The sounds of the blue waters lapping against the rocks and the gentle winds fluttering my hair are experiences that I can still close my eyes and feel.

We also decided to take a day trip to Paphos. Paphos has both – the majestic mountains and the beach which is a sophisticated beach front if I may point out. Not too many young population – great of adults or honeymooners. Among its attractions are its ancient mosaic floors, its beautiful old harbour, its modern hotels and restaurants, situated along the seaside promenade. Other sights include an archaeological museum, the Byzantine castle of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paul’s Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite (the goddess of love and beauty) and the Baths of Aphrodite. The summer months are a popular time for tourism in Paphos, when temperatures reach easilly into the mid 30 degrees centigrade every day.

But, my family and I enjoyed walking the little villages around Paphos. Especially Latchi, which looks like a miniature town. We rented bicycles and enjoyed Cycling in the mountains. The main shopping lane, which runs parallel to the beach promenade, is the ideal tourists' marketplace.

Located in Paphos is the gorgeous Coral Bay, a beauteous beach with soft sand and deep blue water, a perfect place for water sports.
Cyprus is a place for all pockets who love their sunshine !

Do what you Love

I used to eat my lunch box in the first quarter of my lunch break in school. Then i would walk into the library and head straight for that shelf where I would have hidden the book my eyes had caught fancy. I had got into the habit of reading some great works thanks to my mother – who still remains an avid reader. The few minutes in this library introduced me at first to the colourful world of Noddy and then the adventurous world of Nancy Drew, Louisa May Alcott, Mark Twain, Lewis Caroll and Famous Five. It was later that Rudyard Kipling caught onto to me. Through these times it was the Librarian Parsi aunty who chose my books and guided me through the authors.

Then came a lady who changed my life – My teacher, my friend, my philosopher and my guide... Naina Sanghavi. To most students she was a horror movie – but behind all that spankings and anger was a fine lady who wanted to bring out the craft in us. she taught me some real literature – Maupassant, Oscar Wilde Charles Dickens, Shakespear, . Through her story telling, she encouraged us to write. The topics discussed ranged from writing fiction to autobiographies, to short stories, poems. She literally got me into the habbit of not only reading but also helping me pen my thoughts. Today I owe a lot to her.

And then one by one, every person who recommended a book became my inspiration. For most of you who know me – I’m an all weather reader. I read just about anything. My cooking inspiration is my sister – Dhwani Doshi. Read her on http://dhwanidoshi.blogspot.com My fiction is dedicated to a big list of people. My love stories are from my younger cousin Aneri. I also like a lot of management and self help books for they inspire me to achieve my monetary purpose of life.
Dan Brown, Khalid Hooseni, Paulo cohelo, Leo Tolstoy, Mario Puzo, Eric Sehgal, Mitch Albom, Pinky virani... those whose writings inspire me strive for my creative passion.

But the whole reason I started blogging was because of this terrific blogger – her name is Amisha Gurbani. http://amishas-kitchen.blogspot.com i have never met her, but she has an amazingly cute daughter. She cooks from her heart, and fuels her blogs with some mouth watering receipes. It is from her that i have learnt how to love my blog.

Today, i got featured on www.blogchai.com It is where a list of celebrities are featured ! and to be amongst them is truly an honour. There is nothing more than a bloggist in me wants. And lastly all the followers, the non-follwers who read occasionally and send a message, email, tweet, BB, Facebook, Chance encounters - A Big big thank you to everyone
